quickly too quickly

Our Jane is already a month old. Time is passing by way too quickly. We are enjoying her so much but I'm sad to have her getting "old so quickly. I'm amazed at how quickly she has just made her place and it seems it's just normal to have her be a part of her family. It's hard to believe that just a month ago I was wondering what she would look like. She continues to be a sweet baby and I am crossing my fingers that she continues to be.

Anna "graduated" from preschool this week and I also can't believe how quickly this year has gone by. She went to the same preschool and had the same 2 teachers for the past two years. She has grown and changed so much in that time. When she started she was so shy and quiet and had a really hard time coming out of her shell and being comfortable. At her parent teacher conference this week her teacher told me she now has to remind her to stop talking and pay attention. I'm glad that she has become so comfortable. She is sad school is over and already misses it. I am sad school is over too for several reasons.

Ethan will finish school this Thurs. He is very excited and I am very nervous. I'm not sure how to "entertain" 4 kids all summer with a new baby and them all at different ages and stages wanting to do different things. I have to admit I am quite nervous about it. We are normally quite a go go family and this summer my plan is more of a stay and home and relax. Ethan isn't overly excited about that idea. I hope to plan some activities and even keep up on some reading and school work. I hope we can figure out a good balance to keep us all happy. If you have any great ideas send them my way. I am serious I need all the help I can get this summer. We plan to kick off summer or at least celebrate the end of the school year by going up the canyon to roast hot dogs and make s'mores. Now if the weather would just cooperate even just a tad it would be all the better. Wish me luck for the next three months. I think I'll need them!

tried to post pics but it wasn't working I'll try again soon.

Funny boy

When it was time to have prayer before Ethan left for school, he volunteered to say it. Let me preface by saying he is completely in love with Lego Batman for the Wii. He dreams about it, talks about it non stop to the point we have limited him to 30 minutes a day after homework and one new guy a week using codes from the internet. So today when he offered the prayer I couldn't help but laugh when he prayed that "he and Dad would be blessed to find an awesome guys this week for lego batman." I guess I'm just happy he feels prayer is the best way to ensure his greatest wishes come true!

On a not so funny note, a few weeks ago Ethan came down from his room crying. He said he had a dream that there was an earthquake in Utah and was pretty upset about it. We assured him we were fine and that there wasn't going to be an earthquake. The next night I was watching the news and they reported there had been a small quake in Utah about 2 hours north of us. I couldn't help but just think it was obviously a crazy coincidence.

So last night Ethan awakened from yet another bad dream and was inconsolable. It wasn't until this morning that I asked Randall what the dream was about. He said "well, Ethan dreamed that I died." Now I know our son isn't predicting the future or anything but it did freak me out just a tad and I asked Rand to be especially careful today as he went out the door, yikes!

What it's all about

It's Sunday morning, Mother's day morning, and for the moment I am completely happy and content. A feeling that is too often fleeting. This morning I awakened to fussing of little Jane. I laid there thinking I would wait just a minute to see that she was really awake and ready to eat. A few minutes later I sat up to see an empty crib. It scared me. Randall had come in and quietly snatched her up hoping to let me sleep a little longer.

I sat down to feed her, enjoying my sweet new bundle adding even more joy to this Mother's day. The kids soon came in with my breakfast. English muffin with eggs and Canadian bacon with lots of salsa, my favorite. It was soon after that things quickly changed. Isn't it typical that kids act their worst on a day like today? Is that really the way it is, or is it that we just hope for and expect them to act a little nicer on our special day? The kids were fighting over something, Anna hit Kate which ensued a very long, loud and dramatic time out. After that Anna gave me her gift and then quickly told me she needed to put it in her room to keep it "safe". Then we told the kids that it was time for baths with followed with much weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth. Why is that? Once they are in the tub they like to bathe, so why all the fuss? Just to make Mom's job worth it right?

As I sat down to check my email and turn on the Mormon Tabernacle choir, another of my favorite things, especially on special day like today, Kate out of the blue climbed up on the couch next to me and laid her head on my shoulder with closed eyes. She sat there quietly for a minute allowing me to breathe in my freshly bathed baby, well at least the little girl that was my baby just weeks ago. I kissed her and told her how much I loved her snuggle, and thought to myself on this Mother's day, this is what it's all about.

More Jane

Jane Elizabeth arrived April 21st at 5:52 pm. She weighed in at 8 lbs. 8 ounces and was 19 inches long. It was my best labor and delivery by far. So far she is as sweet as can be. We absolutely think she is darling and sweet. We are so glad to have her here. The kids have done really well and love her too. We have certainly had our outbursts and a few potty accidents I'm sure in need of some attention, but all in all we are doing well. We sure think we got a good one.

Yesterday was Jane's 2 week check and she was back to her birth weight. The nurse said she had grown 2 inches! I think someone mis measured when she was born but needless to say she is growing and we love her to pieces!

A friend of mine was nice enough to come over and take same pictures of Jane. She was 10 days old here and so precious. They grow too fast and I'm sooo glad we were able to capture her while she was still new. Thanks Stacey!

Our Jane

Love her!
